Mission
The Educational Theatre Company (ETC) is a group of professional theater artists who seek to change the world by helping to unlock the creative and collaborative potential of children and adults by sharing with them our passion for theater arts through school and community based programs in the National Capital Area.
ETC promotes the arts and arts education by bringing teaching artists into local communities in order to share their passion, knowledge and discipline in the Performing Arts.
Method
ETC's programs focus on discovering and fostering the creative impulse of each individual. We provide a safe and structured environment where students can explore their own creativity, take risks and conquer challenges. ETC is committed to nurturing the next generation of theatre artists and educating future theatre patrons about the joys of live theatre. The company's teaching models instill self-confidence and build important life-skills as well as educating students in acting and drama techniques.

ETC's History
The company's educational programs have the same underlying philosophy, underscoring the cohesion the arts create and the possibilities for promoting understanding between diverse cultural groups. The arts serve as an outlet for expression, not only of modern life's frustrations and anxieties, but also for the celebrations of the human experience. ETC believes that high standards are required for this undertaking, and that new generations of audiences and artists need hands-on arts education provided by professionals in the artistic disciplines. Our educators not only serve as teachers, but act as role models for youth and upcoming artists. ETC increases access to and participation in high quality theatre programs at the community and professional level.
