Fairytales: Frozen Fun

ETC Beginnings offers an enriching experience for preschoolers to learn basic acting skills, and use their bodies, voices and imaginations to create exciting characters. The day includes acting games, story creation, arts & crafts, and outdoor time. Note: Preschoolers must be potty trained.

The Tempest Teen

June 21 - July 8 (no June 20 or July 4)

Come act and direct Shakespeare's The Tempest with a musical twist! Deepen your understanding of classical text, and round out theatre skills, as you rehearse and perform in our staff-directed, Shakespeare production. Teens get on-the-job theatre and educational training as you learn to direct younger campers in scenes by the bard. You’ll get to show off all you’ve learned to friends and family on Friday, July 8th.

The Tempest

June 27 - July 8 (no July 4)

3rd-6th

Bring classic theatre to life with a musical twist! Use your imagination, collaborate with your peers and perform William Shakespeare's The Tempest combined with original songs, set to contemporary music. Campers will gain a wide range of acting skills through both rehearsal and participation in specialized workshops including characterization, script analysis, voice and diction, and more! Friends and family are invited to an end-of-camp performance Friday, July 8th.

Intro to Film

Family and friends are invited to attend a final sharing on Friday afternoon. 


ETC-on-Film is at it again; filmmaking with campers of all ages. Our youngest ETC-on-Film campers will get a chance to be behind the camera: they collaborate to write, storyboard, shoot, and edit a short film, all in only 1 week! Think of it as a 24-hour film festival for kids.


Intro to Film is an ETC STEAM Camp.

Session 4

Young Songwriters

July 11 - 15

7th - 12th

ETC is partnering with Young Songwriters for this new camp offering for teens!


Young Songwriters creates opportunities for young songwriters to meet, collaborate, perform, and hone their songwriting craft!  This camp is perfect for students who wish to share their passion for creating and performing original music. Through songwriting, campers will learn storytelling, collaboration, vocal technique, style and branding all while getting coached on writing lyrics and performance.


Note:  All campers must play either ukulele, guitar, or piano at an intermediate level to register.

Devising Hope

July 11 - 22

Church of the Ephiphany; DC

9th - 12th

Devising Hope brings together adults who have experienced homelessness and local high school students to collaborate on a devised theatre piece. Through the course of the project, Devising Hope participants build connections and camaraderie through theatre exercises and the creation of new material based on a chosen theme. In seeking to build a common understanding of the human experience, Devising Hope participants share personal narratives that inspire an original theatre piece, performed for a public audience.

Camp Comedy

Make ‘em laugh! Improvise outlandish stories and characters, don ridiculous outfits, learn sketch, mime, standup, slapstick, or clown. When not clowning around, campers will have the chance to take their new comedy skills to the big screen in silent comedy films and movie musicals! Check out our past silent comedies and movie musicals at youtube.com/etconfilm. It all culminates in our Performance and Screening, Friday, July 29th if possible.


Camp Comedy is an ETC STEAM Camp.

Session 5-6

Camp Comedy Studios

July 18 - 29

H-B Woodlawn

7th-12th

Make your own movie, hilariously! Along with improv and other laugh-a-minute activities, all teens at Camp Comedy make films. Rising 7th & 8th graders, aka ‘Cineastes’, learn to write, direct, and edit silent comedies in the classic style. Auteurs (rising 9th-12th graders) write, direct, and edit original movie musicals! See previous years' films at youtube.com/etconfilm. It all culminates in our Performance and Screening, Friday, July 29th if possible.

Musical Debut

July 18 - 29

Family and friends are invited to an end of camp Performance at on Friday, July 29th if possible.


Dancing, acting, singing! Campers will collaborate with professional artists to create a dynamic original performance while learning skills in Broadway movement and vocal technique. This camp is specially geared for younger students who can't stop the beat, even if they are new to performing!

Improv Comedy Troupe

July 18 - 22

Meridian High School

3rd-12th

Learn to be quick on your feet and make BIG choices with Educational Theatre Company! Through the exploration of physical storytelling, ensemble building, and character development, participants will learn the skills of improvisation. Youth and teens work primarily in separate groups with campers their own age to create larger than life characters, outlandish plotlines, and comedic scenarios on the spot! Campers will showcase their new comedy troupes with a performance for family and friends on the last day of camp. This camp is perfect for new or returning campers. Take one or all three ETC Falls Church comedy camps to build your comedy skills from the base up.


Falls Church camps registration and tuition are managed by the City of Falls Church.

Ocean Adventures: Sea Creatures

Make 'Em Laugh Comedy Camp

In Educational Theatre Company’s ensemble-based comedy camp, get ready to make ‘em laugh! Participants will ask the question “what’s so funny?” and explore the skills needed to make audiences roar with laughter! Youth and teens will work alone and in groups to develop material for a variety of different comedic forms, both written and performative. They will showcase their humor in a comedy variety show for family and friends on the last day of camp. This camp is perfect for new or returning campers. Take one or all three ETC Falls Church comedy camps to build your comedy skills from the base up.

Have a blast “acting out” on the stage! Campers will gain and strengthen tools for creating characters, stories, and acting technique. Campers will master skills such as character development, improvisation, and ensemble work! A sharing will be held on the last day of camp if possible.

Sing, act, dance, and design one singular sensation! Students collaborate with professional artists to create a dynamic performance, learning dance, vocal technique, and improvisation along the way. A sharing will be held on the last day of camp if possible.

Musical Revue Teen Intensive

August 1 - 12

A sharing will be held on the last day of camp if possible.

Sketch Comedy

Educational Theatre Company is ready for another side-splitting summer with hilarious sketches! Youth and teens will work in multiple groups to write original sketch comedy in the tradition of "Saturday Night Live" and "Second City." Skills such as narrative focus, comedic timing, and creative use of one's voice are developed. Friends and family will be invited to a final sharing of sketches on the last day of camp. This camp is perfect for new or returning campers. Take one or all three ETC Falls Church comedy camps to build your comedy skills from the base up.

Shake the Screen

Family and friends are invited to a screening of the films made on Friday, August 12th.


The possibilities are endless at ETC’s teen filmmaking camp! You’ll receive staff guidance but few limitations, as you direct, act, design, costume, score, shoot, and edit your own films, based on classic literature of your choosing. Collaborate, create, challenge, and express yourself like nowhere else. Check out last year’s shorts at youtube.com/etconfilm and don’t miss the Shake the Screen Film Fest 2022 on Friday, August 12th.

Write an original play! Campers will be guided through writing their own lines, creating plot, characters and setting. They will work together to explore narrative structure, character development, conflict, and movement. A sharing of their work will be performed on the last day.

Friends and family are invited to a screening of the films made on Friday, August 19th. 


One last chance to close the gate on your big summer film, or start a new one! You’ll receive staff guidance and creative freedom to direct, act, design, costume, score, shoot, and edit your own films. Put the finishing touches on another project from ETC-on-Film, or create a new masterpiece short film. Collaborate with fellow filmmakers in the ever-growing ETC-on-Film Community! Family and friends are invited to a screening of the camper's films on Friday, August 19th.
